A major new announcement by the SEC has launched XBRL firmly into the mainstream. The US federal agency has awarded contracts totalling $54 million to renovate the EDGAR filing system to accomodate Interactive Data, to finance the development of a new set of US XBRL taxonomies and to support the development of new and better implementation tools.
